AVM Secures 58 EV Bus MOU with Israeli Transport Company

Afifi Group’s UBSI to Deploy AVM’s EV Bus and Charging Systems in the Middle East

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AVM today announces a memo of understanding with UBSI, the commercial transportation and logistics arm of the Afifi Group, Israel and the Palestinian Territories’ largest, privately held transportation, tourism, and real estate group, to purchase 58 of AVM’s commercial electric vehicles. The MOU also includes plans to purchase a network of AVM’s 350 kW CCS 2.0 high-powered chargers which provide under 10-minute charging times along with a centralized fleet management system, AI-based route optimization software and Bluetooth beacon hardware. First deliveries are planned for Q1 2019.

“We are also in late-stage discussions with UBSI to become AVM’s official representatives and further our reach into the Israeli and Palestinian bus market.”

“We found AVM’s integrated technologies and 10-minute charging to be the strongest commercial transportation solution for us,” says Tawfiq Afifi, head of Trade and Services for Afifi Group. Afifi’s UBSI division currently imports and operates over 650 buses and is supported by its 13,000 square foot service center.

“With over 80 years of experience in the region, we feel Afifi Group is uniquely positioned to make 100% clean energy transportation a reality in the region,” adds Omar N. Barakat, president of Havenrock, lead AVM investor who with AVM partner Wamar International helped secure the MOU. “We are also in late-stage discussions with UBSI to become AVM’s official representatives and further our reach into the Israeli and Palestinian bus market.”
